PAST EVENTS

Litton Birks Fell Race

The Litton Birks Fell Race was held again last weekend. The weather was not as kind to us this year, cold with low cloud and light drizzle, but that didn't deter the runners with a 35% increase in entrants.

Our growing band of well-wishers and local volunteers were once again treated to a high quality, competitive race. Special thanks to our prize sponsors, local landowners, The Queens Arms and the volunteers from UWFRA for supporting us once again.

The second edition of our new and refreshed course saw Wharfedale's Ted Mason take first place in a time of 27.55 giving him back-to-back wins for a race that in his own words he "absolutely loves". Thomas Dobbing came in 2nd in a tight finish with Frank Morgan, 3rd. We also witnessed a stand-out performance from Keswick AC's Caroline Lambert, first female, in a new course record of 31.44. Issy Rowe and Molly Ralpson were our 2nd and 3rd
females.

We introduced our first Junior Races this year with an U9's race and a merged U12/14's race, with wins for Ryan Perry and Jonty Charnley respectively. A special mention must also go to Angus Millar, our sole entrant in the U17's race who, fully supported by his parents, agreed to give the senior race a go. He produced a stunning run to come in 6th overall
in a time of 30.05.

There were notable category performances too, from Ken Robinson (MV70), Peter Roll (MV60), Jill Gates (FV60), Stephen Smithies (MV50), Molly Ralpson
(FV50) and Lucy Mallinson (FV40).
